Sunday Mornings, My Childhood, & Public Radio

npr_music_logo.gifAs a child I changed school a few times, fads came and went, Pete rose was banned from baseball, the Berlin Wall came down, Al Capones vault was empty, I played violin for three weeks , best friends became arch enemies, seasons changed, best of times worst of times and so on, but one thing remained a constant, Public Radio.

In the morning my mom would listen while preparing breakfast and school lunch, often I would get home from school and while the smells of fresh coffee and cinnamon had vanished oftenime the radio would still be on, making the house a bit warmer and a bit less empty. I recall car rides with Click and Clack, summer vacations on Lake Woebegone, and endless jokes about a candidate who could not spell “potato”.

Now I urge all of you to take a look at their programing. Its not just liberal media and classical music. Here a few good places to start.
